Description
This car will be available for public preview on April 11, from 10:00am – 3:00pm, at RADwood at the Heritage Invitational located at the Ten Tenths Motor Club in Concord, North Carolina.
The 1987 Porsche 911 Targa represents a pivotal point in the model’s evolution, where classic air‑cooled character meets meaningful mechanical refinement. By this stage, the long‑running G‑body 911 had reached full maturity, and the Targa—introduced two decades earlier as a stylish response to evolving safety standards—remained uniquely Porsche. Its steel roll bar and removable roof panel delivered open‑air motoring without sacrificing the 911’s unmistakable silhouette.
Power came from Porsche’s revered 3.2‑liter flat‑six, a lively and durable engine enhanced by Bosch Motronic management for improved drivability and reliability. For many markets, 1987 also marked the introduction of the much‑praised G50 five‑speed transmission. Galvanized bodywork and refined interiors gave the 1987 Targa an ideal balance of old and new that defines the late Carrera 3.2 era.
This 911 Carrera Targa was first delivered to Metropolitan Imported Autos of St. Paul, Minnesota. More recently, it came to the selling dealer from a private collection in Naples, Florida. It’s finished in classic Guards Red with a black Targa top and Black leather interior, and has traveled about 23,800 miles from new.
The car has been fitted with an Air Condition Climate Control by Griffiths and a Kuehl High Performance Evaporator in place of stock air conditioning components, and it features a Porsche Classic head unit with Apple CarPlay.
This low-mile 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is now offered by the selling dealer with its window sticker and owner's manuals, an uninstalled Blaupunkt head unit, some service records, a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, and a clean North Carolina title.
