Description
“The hulking black Grand National will scream from 0 to 60 mph faster than any other car made in America. Is 4.9 seconds fast enough?” Car and Driver’s 1986 track test shook the performance world to its foundation. The turbocharged Grand National — dressed in sinister, monochromatic black — had just hissed to 60 mph two tenths quicker than a Lamborghini Countach, and went on to post a 13.9-second quarter mile time.
The secret lay in Buick’s 3.8-liter V6, which combined high-tech Bosch sequential fuel injection, a distributor-less ignition system, an air-to-air intercooler, and 12 pounds of boost from a Garrett turbocharger to create neck-snapping thrust unheard of in the 1980s. The intercooled 1986–87 Turbo Buicks were instant legends, and nearly 40 years later, that legend has only grown.
This 1987 Buick Grand National was purchased by the seller in 1995, who states that he never raced or daily drove it. Its few modifications — including a desirable GNX-style gauge cluster — can be taken back to stock by its next lucky owner.
This Grand National is now offered with a clean CARFAX history report, some spare parts, an owner's manual, and current Maine registration.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX history report places this 1987 Buick Grand National in Maine from new.
The seller states, “I have owned this vehicle for over 30 years. It has original paint, interior, engine, and drivetrain. The few modifications like the radio and engine chrome can be returned to full original with the parts that I will provide with the sale. Note this has been a show car only, never daily driven or raced.
“The Carfax report stating 101,067 miles on 6/25/2005 is incorrect. I believe there was a mix-up regarding an inspection sticker, with someone reading 1,067 miles on the new GNX cluster odometer and assuming 101,067 miles. I have the title and DMV information showing what it is registered for with mileage, and looking at the car's photos should back that up. The original odometer showed 44,074 miles before it was removed, and the GNX dash was installed. The GNX dash odometer shows 3,360, so I believe the total mileage is just under 48,000.
“I have been the loving caretaker of the vehicle since 1995, and hope that I can find someone that will love it as much as I have and preserve this piece of history into the future!”
