Description

“Corvette. A legend in its own time. A car that’s become a classic in its own lifetime.” The 1980 Corvette marked a transitional year for Chevrolet’s iconic sports car, blending classic styling with emerging technology and regulatory compliance. It was the last model built at the St. Louis, Missouri plant before production moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky. The car retained the familiar C3 “shark” body style but featured several updates, including a new front and rear bumper design made of urethane to meet federal impact standards.

Under the hood, the Corvette offered two 350 cubic inch V8 engines: the standard L48 producing 190 horsepower and the optional L82 delivering 230 horsepower.

Weight reduction was a key focus in 1980. Engineers trimmed nearly 250 pounds from the previous year’s model by using thinner glass, lighter materials, and aluminum components. Inside, the Corvette featured improved instrumentation and optional convenience features like power mirrors and a glass roof panel. Power windows, air conditioning, and tilt-tele steering column were now standard.

With 40,614 units produced, the 1980 Corvette continued to be a remarkable seller — and this ’80 was refurbished in 2015 including a fresh coat of 2015–2016 Camaro Blue Velvet Metallic paint.
