Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1979 Pontiac Trans Am marked the peak of second-generation F-body popularity, boosted by its starring role in “Smokey and the Bandit.” It featured bold styling with a redesigned front-end, four rectangular headlamps, and the iconic “screaming chicken” hood decal. Engine options ranged from the standard 301 Pontiac V8 to the higher-output 400 Pontiac V8, the latter available only with a four-speed manual. With over 117,000 units sold, 1979 was the Trans Am’s best sales year, cementing its legacy as a muscle car icon during a time of tightening emissions regulations.
This Trans Am was originally a California car with a 301ci V8 and blue paint, which was transformed by the previous owner in striking white with black graphics. Under the hood, a cammed 455ci V8 replaces the original engine, mated to a four-speed 200-4R automatic transmission. Dual exhaust, an LED digital dash, and a refreshed interior using factory or factory-style components enhance its appeal. Upgraded “snowflake” wheels and fresh tires (said to have just 1,600 miles) complete the package. This upgraded Trans Am is now offered with service and upgrade documents and a clean title.
