Description
The 1977 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II represented a refined evolution of the original Silver Shadow, which debuted in 1965. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1977, the Shadow II introduced key mechanical upgrades, most notably rack-and-pinion steering, and a revised front suspension. These changes significantly improved handling and ride quality, aligning the car with contemporary expectations for luxury performance.
Visually, the Shadow II featured rubber-faced bumpers and a deeper front air dam, reflecting updated safety standards and late-1970s design trends. The interior remained true to Rolls-Royce tradition, with hand-finished wood veneers, Connolly leather, and Wilton wool carpets, now paired with improved ergonomics and climate control systems. Power came from the proven Rolls-Royce 6.75-liter V8 engine mated to a GM-sourced automatic transmission, delivering smooth, quiet performance. The self-leveling hydraulic suspension — originally developed with Citroën — was further refined for reliability and comfort.
Originally sold by Park Ward Motors in New York City, this example is finished in white with blue leather and shows 69k miles. It later received a high-quality repaint and custom rear picnic tables, and benefits from extensive recent servicing as listed below.
This Rolls-Royce is now offered in Florida on behalf of the current owner with service records, a copy of its window sticker, its delivery checklist, owner's manuals, a model-specific car cover, and a clean New York title.
