Description

The 1973 Chevelle marked the debut of Chevrolet’s revised A-body, which was available in Hardtop Coupe, Hardtop Sedan, and Wagon body styles with Deluxe, Malibu, and uplevel Laguna trim levels. The new “Colonnade” (pillared) body was larger than the previous model, and it wore new safety-conscious energy-absorbing bumpers and integrated headrests. Underneath, its chassis retained rear-wheel drive, with a revised coil-spring suspension and standard front disc brakes.

The SS option added muscle to the Malibu Coupe and Wagon. 350ci (as seen here) or 454ci V8s were available, connected to 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic or 4-speed manual transmissions. Handling prowess was upgraded with specific sway bars combined with Rally wheels. And black-finished grille and taillight frames, sport mirrors, bright roof moldings, wheel well striping, a performance instrument cluster, and SS badges differentiated it from standard Chevelles. Despite ever-tightening emissions and safety regulations, the ’73 SS carried on the iconic Chevelle name for one final year, with 28,647 produced.

The seller of this 1973 Chevrolet Chevelle SS states that its green paint was refinished in 2023 to complement the reupholstered interior.

This Chevelle SS is now offered with a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
