Description
The 1971 Mustang Mach 1 equipped with the 429 Cobra Jet–Ram Air (J-Code) engine represents one of the most formidable muscle cars of its era. Powered by a 429ci V8 rated at 370 horsepower, the J-Code variant features a functional Ram Air induction system that channels cool air through vacuum-operated hood scoops into a sealed air cleaner, enhancing performance and throttle response. Its distinctive “NASA” duct hood, black grille, and body-colored urethane front bumper gave it a commanding presence.
Finished in Light Pewter Metallic over a black cabin from the factory, this Mach 1 429 Cobra Jet features a heavy-duty C-6 automatic transmission backed by a 9-inch rear axle with performance gearing. With its numbers-matching drivetrain and factory Ram Air setup, this 1971 Mach 1 J-Code stands as a rare and highly collectible example of Ford’s peak muscle car engineering.
This Mach 1 is now offered with copies of the original invoice and window sticker, a Marti report, some service records, and a clean Nebraska title in the seller's name.
