“There's no escaping the attraction of sheer power in a car and we fell for the GTX…” reported Motor Trend magazine (January 1969). The 1969 Plymouth GTX stands as one of the most charismatic muscle cars of its era—a refined performer crafted for drivers who wanted both power and polish. Building on the dramatic redesign of 1968, the ’69 GTX received subtle styling updates, including fresh front and rear treatments that gave it a crisp, confident look without sacrificing its muscular stance.
Performance was the heart of the GTX, and in 1969 it delivered more excitement than ever. The standard 440 “Super Commando” V8 churned out an impressive 375 horsepower from the factory, while a new mid‑year 440 “Six‑Barrel” variant elevated output to 390 horsepower—an affordable and desirable upgrade that brought serious street credibility.
Though sales dipped due to growing competition from the cheaper, newly expanded Road Runner lineup, the 1969 GTX never lost its identity as Plymouth’s upscale performance flagship. Only 15,602 were built.
Refinished in white with distinctive matte black stripes and trim, this GTX features red bucket seats. It's powered by a 440ci V8 paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox. Numerous photos in the gallery show the extent of the refurbishment.
This 1969 Plymouth GTX Hardtop is now offered by the selling dealer with manuals, a broadcast sheet, a binder of refurbishment photos, and a clean Florida title.
