Description

The Oldsmobile 4-4-2 is a 1960s icon. Those three numbers describe a performance package that was first offered on 330ci 1964 F-85s — with the powerful 400ci V8 debuting a year later.

The 4-4-2 became a standalone model in 1968. It wore a dramatic redesign featuring rounded, aggressive styling, and was offered in Holiday Coupe, “post” Sport Coupe, and Convertible body styles. It had performance-oriented brightwork and emblems on the outside, with the interior featuring comfortable Strato Bucket seats, deluxe trim, and a Hurst Competition shifter for manual transmissions. Oldsmobile’s flagship muscle car managed to combine serious factory performance with a level of interior refinement higher than many of its peers.

In 1969, the 4-4-2’s torquey 400ci Rocket V8 was available with 325 horsepower, and backed by 3- or 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmissions. Add in a heavy-duty suspension and rear gear ratios up to 4.66 to 1, and the 4-4-2 was built for both comfort, and tire-spinning fun.

The original owner purchased this 4-4-2 from Charles Maund Oldsmobile-Cadillac in Austin, Texas, on August 14, 1969. It is finished in Aztec Gold with a Parchment vinyl top over Parchment upholstery, and is powered by a 325-hp 400ci V8 connected to an automatic transmission. Equipment includes an air-conditioning system, an AM radio, and GT Rally Stripes.

This 1969 Oldsmobile 442 Holiday Coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of the executor of the owner’s estate, with original purchase documentation including the Protect-O-Plate and owner’s manual, maintenance manuals and receipts, and a clean Texas title.
