The Oldsmobile 4-4-2 first launched in 1964 as a Cutlass performance package. The now-legendary 4-4-2 name originally meant a four‑barrel carburetor, four‑speed manual transmission, and dual exhaust — a definition that changed to a four-barrel, 400ci V8, and dual exhaust in 1965.
By 1967, the 4-4-2 had become a standalone model, offered exclusively on the premium Cutlass Supreme line and featuring a redesigned grille and a split-headlight design. Under the hood, the 400ci engine produced 350 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque, while the optional W‑30 package added functional cold‑air induction. Handling that power was a four‑speed manual equipped with Hurst linkage, or the newly introduced three‑speed Turbo Hydra‑Matic automatic. And with standard front and rear anti‑sway bars, the 4‑4‑2 delivered straight‑line speed and remarkable handling, securing its place as one of the era’s most advanced muscle cars.
Documentation indicates that this 1967 4-4-2 was originally ordered from Earl Stoyer Cadillac-Oldsmobile in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania. It has since reportedly been refinished in its original Spanish Red finish with a Provincial White top over a red bucket seat interior. Its “925” 400ci V8 is connected to a four-speed manual transmission and an Anti-Spin rear end.
This 1967 4-4-2 was judged at 949 points out of 1,000 at the Oldsmobile Club of America meet in 2021 and was featured in the August 2015 issue of Muscle Machines magazine.
This Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 442 four-speed is now offered by the selling dealer with its original order sheet and Protect-O-Plate, a showroom photo with the original owner, an Oldsmobile Club of America judging sheet and additional show awards, build documentation, and a clean Florida title.
