Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

Introduced as part of Ford’s mid-size lineup for 1966, the Fairlane 500 XL combined elegant styling with performance-oriented features, making it a popular choice among enthusiasts of the era. Positioned above the standard Fairlane, the 500 XL offered premium trim, bucket seats, and sporty design cues that reflected the muscle car movement of the mid-'60s. Today, well-preserved examples remain highly desirable for collectors seeking originality and period-correct details.

This 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 XL is a C-Code car originally equipped with a 289ci V8, and is now fitted with a 302ci V8 paired to a C-4 automatic transmission. The seller reports being the fourth owner, with ownership history traceable back to 1968. This Fairlane has received select mechanical updates for reliability while preserving its strong original aesthetics, as described below.

This 302-powered 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 XL is now offered at no reserve with partial service records, receipts from previous work, historical registration documents, some spare parts, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

Ownership History

From the seller: “This is a C-Code car. The original 289 was replaced with a 302 before I purchased it. The transmission is the standard C-4 model. I have parts and service receipts for work I’ve done, along with a stack of old registration and repair receipts from previous owners. I am techically the fourth as the original owner gifted the car to his daughter, who registered it in her name. The earliest registration I have goes back to 1968. While some paperwork has been lost over the years, I have a lot of documentation on this car.”

Included

  • 1966 Motor’s Auto Repair Manual, Fairlane Club of America magazine, and parts catalogs

  • Some service and ownership history documentation

  • Extra grey headlight and taillight bezel seals

  • Factory blue air cleaner housing

  • Black gasket for the trunk

  • Hood liner

  • Spare tire

  • Jack

Additional Notes

From the seller: "This Fairlane 500 XL has been carefully maintained to preserve its originality. The Wimbledon White paint is factory-applied, and the Turquoise interior remains in excellent condition for its age. While some mechanical components have been replaced for reliability, but the car retains its period-correct presentation."
