Description
Established in 1979, PJ’s Auto World is one of the original collector car dealerships in the USA, located in beautiful Clearwater, Florida. PJ’s specializes in a wide array of classic and muscle cars, street rods, sports cars, classic pickup trucks, and resto-mods. More than 150 cars are available at a time within the collection, including this February limited release of 10 cars offered exclusively for auction, each ready for a driver to relive a memory or create a new adventure.
* * * For 1965, Oldsmobile transformed its F‑85 compact by introducing the now‑legendary 4‑4‑2 package, built around a new 400ci V8 with a four‑barrel carburetor and dual exhausts. Evolving quickly from its 1964 debut with a 330ci engine, the 4‑4‑2 stepped confidently into the thick of the muscle‑car horsepower wars. The larger displacement produced an impressive 345 horsepower and 440 lb‑ft of torque, routed through a choice of 3‑ or 4‑speed manual transmissions or a 2‑speed Jetaway automatic. Power met pavement via a 3.55 rear axle, while handling benefited from a strengthened perimeter frame, heavy‑duty coil springs, a front stabilizer bar, and — in a muscle‑car first — a rear stabilizer bar.
Buyers could choose from four body styles: Club Coupe, Sports Coupe, Holiday Coupe, or the scarce Convertible. All featured a distinctive appearance with 4‑4‑2 badging, bright rear‑fender trim, and performance‑focused wheels and tires, complemented by comfortable, well‑appointed interiors. The result was a machine that blended formidable acceleration with surprisingly refined road manners.
The 4‑4‑2 Convertible offered here is one of only 3,468 built. Following a reported body‑off restoration, it wears Target Red with a matching interior, a black power top, and a detailed engine bay. Its “298” 400ci V8 pairs with a Jetaway automatic and Anti‑Spin rear end, and the car includes bucket seats, a floor‑shift console, a tilt steering column, and power accessories.
This 1965 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible is now offered by the selling dealer with partial service records, an owner's manual, and a clean Massachusetts title.
