Description

The 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Turbo represented the peak of GM’s bold rear-engine experiment, blending European-inspired handling with American engineering flair. As the top-tier performance model in the Corvair lineup, the Corsa Turbo featured a turbocharged flat-six engine, independent suspension, and distinctive fastback styling. Its unique layout and driving dynamics have earned it a devoted following among enthusiasts.

This 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Corsa Turbo Coupe is finished in factory-correct Argent Turquoise over a Black interior and shows 63k miles on the odometer. Built in Los Angeles, California, the car underwent a documented restoration in 2009 in Washington state. Under current ownership since 2019, it has received extensive mechanical refurbishment, including a rebuilt engine, upgraded turbocharger, and a refreshed suspension system. It is located in Reston, Virginia and offered with a clean title.

Factory Equipment

  • Turbocharged “Turbo Air 6” 164ci flat-six engine

  • Four-speed manual transmission (derived from a 1966 Corsa)

  • Finished in factory-correct Argent Turquoise

  • Black interior with Corsa-specific instrumentation and trim

  • 14” Rally six-slot wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich Tires

  • Independent front and rear suspension

  • Dual exhaust outlets

Servicing

  • Recent mechanical work reportedly includes:

    • Engine rebuilt with forged pistons (.040 over), Otto TC20 camshaft, and balanced rotating assembly

    • Cylinder heads replaced with 95HP units featuring deep valve seats

    • Hybrid turbocharger using a 150HP exhaust housing for improved spool characteristics

    • Transmission rebuilt; differential resealed

    • New clutch, resurfaced and balanced flywheel, rebuilt HD pressure plate

    • Suspension rebuild: media-blasted components refinished, new bushings, shocks, and rebuilt rear wheel bearings

    • Brake system overhauled with new wheel cylinders, stainless steel hoses, and conversion to dual master cylinder

Known Imperfections

  • Paint bubbling at windshield channel, lower front quarter, driver’s door, and left rear quarter

  • Scratches on lower portion of front windshield

  • Faded carpet and worn passenger seat foam

Ownership History

From the seller: “The car has documented ownership history dating back to 2001. It was restored in 2009 by a professional shop in Washington and has been under my care since 2019. It’s been a rewarding project and a joy to drive.”

Included

  • Factory manuals and vehicle history binder from previous owners

  • Engine rebuild invoices and various service records

  • Replacement passenger seat foam

  • Uninstalled Turbo heat shield

  • Clean Virginia title

Additional Notes

From the seller: “This Corsa Turbo is a well-sorted driver with a lot of character. The hybrid turbo setup gives it a livelier feel than stock, and the rebuilt suspension makes it handle beautifully. It’s not a concours car, but it’s mechanically strong and ready to enjoy. A great example of GM’s most unconventional performance car.”
