Introduced as part of the Type 105 series, the Giulia Spider was a successor to the popular Giulietta Spider. It featured a more powerful 1.6-liter inline-four engine, producing around 92 horsepower, a significant upgrade from its predecessor. 

Designed by Pininfarina, the Giulia Spider retained the sleek and stylish lines that made the Giulietta Spider a favorite among enthusiasts. The car’s lightweight construction and responsive handling made it a joy to drive, whether cruising through city streets or tackling winding country roads. The Giulia Spider was not just about looks; it also boasted advanced engineering for its time, including a five-speed manual transmission, front disc brakes, and a well-tuned suspension system, which contributed to its reputation for excellent driving dynamics. As Britain’s Autocar magazine wrote, “After the first mile or two, the impression is fully confirmed and surprisingly quickly one feels at one with the car, enjoying every minute on the road.” 

Work completed on this 1963 Giulia Spider in 2005 by the late Alfa Specialist Al Leake included taking the body down to bare metal and repainting it the original Alfa Romeo “China White,” installing a larger rebuilt Alfa Romeo 2.0-liter engine and rebuilt five-speed transmission, new interior, and new top.  

This 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider is now represented by a Broad Arrow Specialist with a parts manual, refurbishment files, and a clean Montana title.

Ownership History 

The current owner purchased the Alfa on October 6, 2022 from a seller in the San Fransico Bay area, with 70,926 miles showing (he has only added approximately 235 miles). The previous owner acquired the car in 2005 from Al Leake and commissioned all the restoration work done on it. The history prior to his ownership is unknown.
