Description
The 1957 Chrysler New Yorker marked a turning point in American automotive design. Styled under Virgil Exner’s celebrated “Forward Look” design, it featured sweeping tailfins, a lower profile, and expansive glass areas, giving it a sleek, modern appearance.
Chrysler invested over $300 million to restyle and reengineer its lineup, introducing innovations like the Torsion-Aire Ride torsion-bar suspension for improved handling and comfort, and the TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission with pushbutton controls. Under the hood, the New Yorker boasted Chrysler’s largest engine — a 392-cubic-inch FirePower Hemi V8 producing 325 horsepower — making it a performance leader among luxury cars. Offered in sedan, hardtop, convertible, and Town & Country wagon variants, the 1957 New Yorker was named Motor Trend’s “Car of the Year.”
Purchased by the current owner from its original family owners, this ’57 New Yorker Sedan wears two-tone Saturn Blue with an Indian Turquoise roof and side spears over reupholstered two-tone gray interior with turquoise seat inserts. It retains its 392 Hemi V8 and TorqueFlite automatic gearbox.
This New Yorker is now offered with a 1957 Chrysler Service Manual, 1957 brochure, May 1957 Motor Trend “Car of the Year” issue, some factory parts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

Ownership History
The Florida-based seller of this 1957 Chrysler New Yorker Sedan purchased it in September 2021.
The seller says, "The New Yorker was Chrysler's challenge to Cadillac's luxury, but at an affordable family price. Its suspension, power brakes, power steering, pushbutton three-speed transmission, and Hemi 392 cubic-inch engine make the car a comfortable pleasure to drive.
This New Yorker was purchased from the original family with the original mileage of 80,000. It is mostly original; the interior was redone in 2022. Numerous mechanical updates have been added, including electronic ignition and rebuilt air conditioning, among other items. It's a unique vehicle. You'll get a lot of attention at car shows.
