Description

The 1950 Chrysler Imperial represented the pinnacle of Chrysler’s luxury offerings before Imperial became a standalone brand in 1955. Positioned to rival Cadillac and Lincoln, the Imperial embodied postwar American elegance with conservative yet imposing styling.

Built on a long wheelbase, it featured Chrysler’s robust inline-eight engine and advanced engineering, including four-wheel hydraulic brakes. Interiors showcased premium materials like mohair and leather, emphasizing quiet comfort and refinement. Offered in sedan and limousine configurations, the Crown Imperial variant catered to dignitaries and executives, reinforcing its prestige image.

This 1950 Chrysler Imperial is powered by a 323.5 cu-in inline-eight engine generating 135 horsepower from the factory, mated to a Fluid Drive manual transmission on the steering column that allowed the car to idle in gear and start smoothly without stalling. The Imperial was reportedly refurbished in 2019, when it received fresh cream paint and new mohair upholstery.

This Imperial is now offered with manuals, some spare parts, and transferrable New York registration in the seller's name.
