Description

The 1949 International Harvester KB-2 was part of the KB series, a line of rugged light-duty trucks produced between 1947 and 1949. Evolving from the earlier K-series introduced in 1940, the KB-2 was a 3/4-ton pickup known for its durability and utilitarian design. It featured integrated fender headlamps, a wraparound hood ornament, and a distinctive barrel-shaped grille with elaborate chrome-finished “wings.”

Powered by the “Green Diamond” 214 cu-in flathead inline-six, the KB-2 delivered 73 horsepower. The engine’s low idle speed and solid construction made it ideal for heavy-duty work. The truck came with either a 113- or 125-inch wheelbase and offered multiple axle ratios for varied hauling needs.

This 1949 KB-2 received a body-off refurbishment in 2012 and is refinished in maroon over beige vinyl upholstery. The 214 cu-in inline-six is mated to a four-speed manual transmission and sends power to the rear wheels through a replaced rear end with 3.50 gears. Cedar planks held by stainless-steel retaining strips line the 7.5-foot bed and are complemented by wooden side stakes. Additional exterior details include a tilt-out windshield, running boards, and polished trim.
