The 1940 Chevrolet Special Deluxe 2‑Door Sedan represented Chevrolet’s move upmarket before World War II. Sharing streamlined Art Deco styling, improved interiors, and hydraulic brakes, it offered families comfort and reliability at an affordable price. Its Smooth Riding Knee‑Action suspension and dependable inline‑six helped cement Chevrolet’s reputation as America’s people’s car—sales surged nationwide in 1940.
No longer a simple people mover, this 1940 Special Deluxe 2-Door Sedan was reimagined by Hi Tech Rods of Shreveport, Louisiana, with a high attention to detail. This street rod is finished in Jo Carol Red with Ghost Flames flowing along the sides. Power comes from a carbureted 327ci V8 paired with a Turbo 350 automatic transmission and a Chevy Nova rear end, believed to be equipped with 3.73 gears. For improved ride quality and modern road manners, it features a Mustang II front stub and suspension.
Inside, the custom gray tweed interior includes comfort and convenience features such as a VDO gauges, tilt steering wheel, power steering, power disc brakes, and cruise control. It also features an air-conditioning system and a roof-mounted AM/FM/CD head unit.
