Description
From its spartan 1990s beginnings, the 2016–23 Tacoma matured into a highly capable and comfortable midsize truck. Sitting on a ladder frame with a 127- or 140-inch wheelbase, the third-generation Tacoma was available with an Access- or Double-Cab cabin, as well as short- or long-bed configurations. Four- or six-cylinder engines transmitted torque through manual or automatic transmissions, and buyers could choose from two- or four-wheel drive versions.
Tacoma’s body features a rugged design that reflects both its off-road capabilities and its utilitarian roots, and it’s even more aggressive looking in TRD Off-Road trim. TRD Off-Road wears a bold grille between angular headlights, strong body character lines with flared fenders, and a flat tailgate framing rounded tail lights. It’s equipped with a specific off-road suspension with Bilstein shocks, standard electronic locking differential, off-road Crawl Control system, and Multi-Terrain Select system to control wheelspin. Combined with capable tires, the TRD Off-Road offers 9.4 inches of ground clearance, impressive 32-degree approach, 23.5-degree departure, and 21-degree breakover angles, and a 1,135-pound payload and 6,400-pound towing capacity.
And this 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-Road has been further modified for even more off-road capability, and includes a Go Fast Campers V2 platform camper for extended off-road adventures.
