The 2016 Lamborghini Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo was engineered exclusively for Lamborghini’s racing series. And while it spent production line time with street-going Huracáns, the Super Trofeo started out in the motorsports workshop, and was assembled by a dedicated 12-person team.

Based on the Huracán LP610-4 but rear-wheel drive, its lightweight construction combined a ducted, vented carbon-fiber composite body with a hybrid carbon fiber and aluminum spaceframe, resulting in a dry weight of only 2,800 pounds. The Super Trofeo’s naturally aspirated, 5.2-liter V10 was managed by a Motec ECU, and fed 612 hp to an electronically actuated six-speed sequential gearbox at a screaming 8,250 rpm.

A double-wishbone suspension utilized anti-roll bars and Öhlins coilovers, while steel Brembo/PFC discs with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers under 18-inch racing slicks hauled it down from considerable speed. Factor in its racing ABS, adjustable traction control, aggressive aero package that more than doubled the street car’s downforce, and a world-class power to weight ratio, and the Super Trofeo was a formidable GT-class contender.

This 2016 Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo is wrapped in removable red and white racing livery, has working headlights and taillights — and while not technically street legal, its own VIN number as well.
