Description
The Mustang Boss 302 nameplate would make its way back onto Ford dealerships in 2012, forty-two years after its original two-year production run (1969-1970). Marketed as the “quickest, best-handling straight-production Mustang ever offered by Ford,” the Boss 302 received a 444 horsepower version of the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine dubbed the “Road Runner.” The powerplant made use of a forged rotating assembly, CNC ported heads, revised camshafts, and a unique dual-exhaust system with metal accentuation discs, which when removed, increased performance and emitted a visceral soundtrack. Chassis stiffness was achieved through a larger diameter rear stabilizer bar, stiffer springs, new bushings, and adjustable shock absorbers each offering five settings. Only one major option was available to buyers – a TORSEN limited-slip differential and RECARO seats packaged together for $1,995 – which is equipped on this well-kept example.
