Description
Replacing the SL55 AMG for the 2008 model year, the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG Roadster introduced a naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V8 engine (M156), producing 518 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant was paired with AMG’s newly developed seven-speed Speedshift MCT transmission, which used a wet clutch instead of a traditional torque converter, delivering faster and smoother gear changes.
Performance-wise, the SL63 could sprint from 0 to 60 mph in around 4.5 seconds, with adaptive suspension and high-performance brakes ensuring precise handling. It also included AMG’s three-stage ESP and multiple driving modes for tailored dynamics.
The new SL63 featured aggressive styling updates, including a redesigned front fascia, LED lighting, and AMG-specific body enhancements. Inside, it offered a luxurious cabin with leather upholstery, advanced infotainment, and optional features like the Airscarf neck-level heating system, ideal for top-down driving.
“The SL63 is really a very livable, grand touring super-roadster,” Automobile Magazine wrote, “[and is perfect for] someone who's tired of sitting on the waiting list for a Ferrari F430 Spider.”
This 2009 SL63 AMG wears black paint and tan leather upholstery, along with AMG-specific body styling, sport suspension, and brakes. The odometer shows 66,501 original miles.
