The 2009 CTS-V marked a pivotal moment for American sport sedans, when a Cadillac could go head to head with Europe’s best — and win. Built on GM’s capable Sigma platform, the second-generation 2009 CTS-V rode on a 113-inch wheelbase and utilized a Nürburgring-tuned control arm front, multilink rear suspension featuring Magnetic Ride Control shocks for ultra-quick damping adjustments. Combined with massive disc brakes and sticky tires, the 4,200-pound CTS-V was impressively agile — holding .93g on the skidpad and stopping from 70 mph in only 166 feet.

And this big car also made big power, with a supercharged, 6.2-liter V8 transferring 556 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. The result was 60 mph in only four seconds, and an auto-trans top speed of 175 mph!

But the CTS-V was also luxurious, with supple leather bucket seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with multi-function controls, and a 10-speaker surround sound system. The 2009 CTS-V redefined Cadillac’s image; and with only 3,035 made, it remains a desirable performance car today.
