Description

The second iteration of Lotus’s track-focused Exige was introduced in 2004 with hand-laid fiberglass bodywork featuring an aggressive front splitter, roof scoop, and rear wing working together to generate 100 pounds of downforce. Initially, the Exige didn’t receive any additional horsepower over the Elise, instead sharing the same all-aluminum Toyota “2ZZ-GE” inline-four-cylinder engine producing 189 horsepower. That changed with the Exige S model announced in February 2006, which utilized a Roots-type supercharger and air-to-air intercooler to produce 218 horsepower in a car weighing just 2,100 pounds. As expected, performance was staggering, reaching 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds and lapping around Lotus’s 2.5-mile road course 1.5 seconds faster than the standard Exige. Limited to a few hundred units per year, this 2007 Lotus Exige S is a rare sight in the United States and a potent performer ready for its next track day.
