Description
The 1960s Shelby Cobras were the original supercars. But because of their incredible power, light weight, short wheelbase, and primitive tire technology, only a professional driver had the skills to extract the best performance from one — and many drivers just got bit.
Backdraft Racing’s Roadster combines the timeless styling of the original Cobra, with updated chassis, drivetrain, suspension, brake, and tire technology. Backdraft’s replica sits on a strong chassis enhanced with a fully independent suspension, rack and pinion steering, and four-wheel disc brakes for a modern driving feel.
This Backdraft Racing Roadster Cobra-style replica started life in South Africa, and the body, frame, suspension, trim, and gauges were imported to Connecticut-based Vintage Motorsports in early 2006 for final assembly. It is finished in blue with white stripes, and wears 15” knockoff wheels and chrome side pipes. The interior features black upholstery, bucket seats, and classic-look gauges framed by a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This roadster strikes with a modified 351ci Ford V8 said to have been overhauled in 2023, backed by a TREMEC five-speed manual transmission offering an intensely analog driving experience.
This 2005 Backdraft Racing Roadster is now represented by a Broad Arrow Specialist in Georgia with a clean South Carolina title in the current owner's name.
