Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 2005 CTS-V marked a pivotal moment in Cadillac’s performance heritage. Based on the CTS sedan, the first-generation CTS-V was Cadillac’s first entry into the luxury sport sedan segment, meant to challenge cars like the BMW M5.
The CTS-V was built on the rear-wheel-drive Sigma platform, and featured a reinforced chassis with stiffer bushings, a tuned, fully independent suspension, Brembo brakes, and a limited-slip differential. Those upgrades were necessary to stand up to the 400-horsepower LS6 V8 and six-speed manual transmission pirated from the Corvette Z06. With a smooth launch to avoid wheel hop, 0–60 runs happened in under five seconds, and the quarter mile flashed by in only 13.7 ticks of the stopwatch.
Visually aggressive, the CTS-V wore ground-hugging bodywork, a mesh grille, 18-inch wheels with performance tires, and unique badging. And inside, its roomy, leather-swathed cabin was comfortable and quiet — until that LS6 screamed to six grand.
This sport sedan seamlessly blended American muscle with European refinement, and was the prototype for Cadillac’s later, world-beating V cars. And this silver 2005 CTS-V has been kept all original for its next owner, having only traveled 51,044 miles since new!
