Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 2004 Mazda RX-8 marked a bold evolution in Mazda’s rotary-powered legacy. Introduced as the successor to the RX-7, the RX-8 was built around the innovative Renesis rotary engine — a compact, high-revving 1.3-liter unit that produced 238 horsepower in manual transmission models. Unlike traditional piston engines, the rotary design allowed for a lightweight and balanced chassis, contributing to the RX-8’s agile handling and near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution.
Mazda broke convention by designing the RX-8 as a four-door sports car, featuring rear-hinged “freestyle” doors that provided easier access to the rear seats without compromising structural rigidity. This made it more practical than typical coupes, while still delivering spirited performance and a driver-focused experience.
The RX-8 debuted to critical acclaim, praised for its sharp steering, responsive suspension, and unique styling. It was also one of the few sports cars of its time to offer seating for four adults. The RX-8 remains a standout in Mazda’s history — a daring blend of engineering innovation and design that captured the brand’s “Zoom-Zoom” philosophy.
This particular RX-8 is described as a stock example equipped with the top-of-the-line Grand Touring Package and a desirable six-speed manual gearbox.
