Description
In the early 2000s, Mercury reignited its performance legacy with the Marauder—a bold, V8-powered sedan that paid homage to Detroit’s muscle car roots. Based on the Panther-platform Grand Marquis, the Marauder was no badge-engineering exercise. Mercury gave it a sinister makeover with monochromatic paint, smoked headlights, polished alloy wheels, and a blacked-out grille. The result was a full-size sedan that looked ready to rumble.
Under the hood, the Marauder packed a 4.6-liter DOHC Modular V8 borrowed from the Mustang Mach 1, delivering 302 horsepower and 318 lb-ft of torque. A 4R70W four-speed automatic with a performance calibration sent power to a limited-slip rear axle with 3.55 gears. The suspension was upgraded with stiffer springs, monotube shocks, and larger sway bars, giving the Marauder a surprisingly athletic feel for its size. Four-wheel disc brakes and 18-inch wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich g-Force T/A tires completed the package.
This 2004 Mercury Marauder is one of just 3,214 produced for the final model year, finished in rare Dark Toreador Red Metallic over Dark Charcoal leather. Purchased new by the seller’s father, this single-family-owned Marauder’s odometer shows just 64,990 miles. Aside from new tires, the seller notes the vehicle is believed to be all original.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this two-owner 2004 Mercury Marauder in Garden City, Michigan. This Marauder has been in the same family since new. The seller states, “My father bought this car new and has babied it ever since. Most of the miles are from him driving back and forth from Michigan to Arizona. It has always been garage-kept with a custom cover. It has never seen any kind of bad weather—if it was raining, he would drive his truck. I do have the original Marauder leather jacket that has never been worn. This car is in excellent condition and all original aside from the tires.”
