The 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible marked the final year of the famed “Terminator” program developed by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT). Introduced in 2003 and carried over with minor updates, the 2004 model retained the supercharged 4.6‑liter DOHC V8, factory‑rated at 390 horsepower, part of SVT’s effort to reestablish Mustang dominance in the pony‑car performance wars. All came with a Tremec T-56 6 Speed transmission.

The 2004 model year brought refinements including small exhaust changes to eliminate the gas‑guzzler tax and an array of color options, most notably Mystichrome, a color‑shifting mix of mix of blue, green, purple, brown, and black hues that was also applied to the seats' interior inserts. Overall production was limited to under 5,000 units, and only 1,010 wore Mystichrome — 515 coupes and 495 convertibles — like this one.
