Description
The 2002 BMW Z3 Roadster represents the final model year of BMW’s first modern mass-produced roadster. Originally launched in 1996, the Z3 was built on the E36 3 Series platform. By 2002, the Z3 had matured into a refined, stylish two-seater with a strong enthusiast following.
The 2002 model featured several engine options, with the most popular being the 2.5-liter inline-six producing 184 horsepower, and the more powerful 3.0-liter inline-six delivering 225 hp. Both engines were paired with either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. The Z3’s rear-wheel-drive layout, near-perfect weight distribution, and responsive handling made it a true driver’s car.
Stylistically, the Z3 Roadster combined classic long-hood proportions with modern BMW design cues. The ’02 version included subtle updates like revised taillights and interior trim. Safety and comfort features such as ABS, traction control, and leather upholstery were standard or widely available.
Production of the Z3 ended in June 2002, making way for the BMW Z4. Today, the 2002 Z3 Roadster is appreciated for its blend of retro charm, reliable performance, and open-top driving pleasure. This garage-kept 2002 Z3 reportedly has minimal imperfections and is powered by a 2.5-liter inline six with five-speed automatic.
