The Chevrolet Monte Carlo celebrated the return of the Super Sport (SS) moniker in 2000. Inspired by NASCAR, the sixth-generation Monte Carlo featured aerodynamic styling and a ducktail spoiler, with the design based on the Monte Carlo “Intimidator” concept car from 1997. The SS featured a 3.8-liter V6 making 200 horsepower. And in addition to standard Monte Carlo SS models, special 200-horse Pace Car editions ran for four years, and were only available in red (2000), black (2001), yellow (2002), and blue (2003).

The 2001 Monte Carlo SS Pace Car was limited to only 1,300 cars, with all sporting a black exterior with Galaxy Silver ground effects and unique checkered flag graphics. Additional features included "Tasmanian Devil" decals, a race-inspired rear spoiler, and a limited-edition plaque. The interior showcased a striking two-tone leather design in black and pewter, with a special “Limited Edition” gauge cluster and “PACE CAR” script on the dash. These special Monte Carlo SS editions combined performance with exclusive styling elements to celebrate Chevrolet’s racing heritage.

This early-build 2001 version is number 114 out of 1,300 black Pace Car Replicas built that year, and it has only accumulated 5,724 miles since new.

The consignor states, “This is a limited-edition NASCAR Pace Car. It is # 114 of only 1,300 made. I work as a docent at the California Automobile Museum, and this is my personal vehicle. I have only used it to exhibit at car shows and at the museum. It is meticulously maintained, stored in an insulated garage under cover. A truly amazing authentic automobile that is as complete as it was when delivered to the dealer. And it comes with the GM window sticker as well as the Certificate Of Authenticity from General Motors.”
