The Chrysler New Yorker was a featured model from 1940 until 1996, serving as the brand’s flagship or junior sedan model across many different classes and layouts. The “Series C” generation was produced from 1988-1993 in the Belvidere, IL Assembly Plant as a four-door sedan with transverse front-engine, front-wheel drive layout on the “C-body” platform.

The new Chrysler-build 3.3L V6 engine debuted in the 1990 model year, and a styling update to the New Yorker was applied to the 1992 production run. 1993 was the final year for the 13th generation New Yorker, with the final manufacture date of May 28, 1993. Additionally, in 1990, Chrysler debuted the New Yorker Fifth Avenue, a stretched-wheelbase variant of the New Yorker, which replaced the just-departed M-body platform. The nameplate “Fifth Avenue” references the prominent New York City street, located just two blocks east of the Chrysler Building.
