Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Mazda Miata floored the enthusiast community when it was introduced in the fall of 1989 for the ’90 model year. Few thought that there could ever be a re-imagined British roadster quite as competent, dependable, and utterly charming as this Japanese drop top. As Car and Driver magazine described it, “The Miata marked the return of the honest sports car, but with all of the practical benefits of a modern automobile.”
Known globally as the MX-5, the Miata reinvented a vehicle segment in ways that its contemporaries like the Toyota MR2, the Australian Mercury Capri, and even the Pontiac Fiero never could. And, perhaps more importantly, it thrived. Adored by the media and the public alike upon its introduction, the MX-5 first-generation roadster was selected Automobile Magazine's 1990 Automobile of the Year.
The roadster has the same DNA as the reputable and reliable Mazda 323, and the Miata's 120-horsepower, 1.6-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine — mated to a five-speed manual with suitably short throws — could propel the 2,200-pound car from 0 to 60 mph in about 9 seconds.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this two-owner 1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata in Birmingham, Michigan, its entire life. The seller (and second owner) purchased it in June 2008. Regarding the air conditioning, the seller explains, “When I got the car, the owner told me that the A/C wasn't working and that the belt was removed so that it wasn't tapping horsepower. I had no reason to change that because I only ever drove it with the top down.”
