“Fiero SE. The sports car with a space-age difference.” The Pontiac Fiero was a bold mid-engine experiment by General Motors. Introduced in 1984, the Fiero was Pontiac’s first two-seater since the 1920s, and the first mass-produced mid-engine sports car by an American manufacturer. And with over 136,000 sold that first year, driving enthusiasts were clearly impressed.
A 1986 Fiero wearing SE trim featured a space-frame chassis and an aerodynamic body using plastic panels. Its sleek body wore distinctive pop-up headlights, rear air intakes, and tasteful lower body cladding, and it could be optioned with a 2.8-liter V6 engine producing 140 horsepower, paired with either a three-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission. A rally-tuned suspension worked with rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes when the road got curvy. And while not overly powerful, Fiero’s light, 2,700-pound curb weight made for a spirited drive. Today, the 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE holds a cult status among collectors, symbolizing a daring chapter in GM’s history of automotive innovation.
This single-owner 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE wears beautiful red paint, and is optioned with the V6 and automatic transmission for fun summer cruising.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this single-owner 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE in South Carolina.
The consignor states, “My wife and I bought this car brand new in 1986. We were both attracted to the distinctive and sporty styling, and enjoyed sharing driving it for the initial few years. We opted for the SE model as opposed to the GT, since we both preferred the vehicle without the spoiler. The 6-cylinder engine had all of the peppiness of the GT model, and felt very close to the road with the direct steering. We also enjoyed having the removable sunroof.”
“After a few years, it was our daughter who put the greatest number of miles on the vehicle. Except for the occasional run around town, the car remained in the garage. Now it’s time for someone else to enjoy driving this little car.”
“All 2022 damage to the driver-side front quarter panel was excellently and completely repaired with authentic Fiero parts by ACE Automotive in Irmo, South Carolina. The driver-side headlight, turn signal, and parking light functionality were completely restored.”
