Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1985 Austin Mini represents a mid‑era chapter in the iconic Mini’s long production run, and by this time, Mini production was in its Mk V generation (1984–1990). Brochures from the period highlight models such as the City E, HLE, and Mayfair, and power came from the familiar and economical 998cc engine, paired with a manual transmission and front‑wheel‑drive layout, maintaining the Mini’s reputation for efficiency and lively performance.
In the 1980s, the German coachbuilding firm Leiningen & Hammel (L&H) became known for converting classic Mini hardtops into convertible models sold through European dealers. Their “Airotic” convertible design retained key body structure around the windshield and doors while adding a reinforced roll bar, folding frame, and removable soft top. This example is believed to have been converted approximately 20 years ago and was imported to the United States under current ownership in 2025.
This 1985 Austin Mini Mayfair is now offered at no reserve in Virginia with a clean Illinios title in the seller’s name.

Additional Information
From the seller, “I purchased the vehicle from a collection that was housed about an hour away from London. The previous owner had rented it out as a prop to several local restaurants. I enjoyed the car in the UK until it was time to ship it. It’s kind of a given to say that it’s a head turner, but it really is! The soft top is waterproof (I know this because it rained on me in the UK) and the best part is that the soft top fits in the trunk!”
