Description
Built on the same platform as Chevrolet’s C/K pickup trucks, the 1969-94 K5 Blazer was designed to combine off-road capability with everyday utility, making it a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts and suburban drivers alike.
The 1984 edition was part of the second generation of the rugged full-size SUV, and it had evolved into a more refined yet still highly capable vehicle. It featured a removable fiberglass rear roof section, allowing for open-air driving, and came standard with four-wheel drive, though earlier models had offered rear-wheel drive as well. The 1984 model retained the square-body styling introduced in 1973, and under the hood, the SUV offered several engine options, most notably the 350 cu-in V8. It could be paired with either manual or automatic transmission, and it used a solid front axle with leaf springs, contributing to its durability and off-road prowess. The K5 Blazer’s base interior was relatively spartan, but the top-of-the-line Silverado package came with features like rectangular headlights, power windows and locks, and upgraded upholstery.
The 1984 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Silverado remained in the same Vermont family for nearly all its life, but it was in storage for seven years before the current owner purchased it last autumn and restored it. It was originally painted red but is now black.

Ownership History
The accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report places this 1984 Chevrolet K5 Blazer in Vermont. The abbreviated report begins in June 1988 in Saint Albans (color noted as red). It was sold in September 2024 in Newport, Vermont, showing 136,035 (color noted as black). The seller says, “I purchased this car from the original owner’s family — it had been stored for seven years — and I did a frame-off restoration. The frame was very good. I replaced the entire running gear, brake lines, fuel lines, springs, and shackles, and I installed a Rough Country 2-inch lift kit ... new carpet, and the seats were recovered. I was told that the 305 V8 was rebuilt approximately 30,000 miles ago and GM transmission was replaced. I have the badges and side molding, which are included — I was going to install them, but after finishing, I liked how it looked as is.”
