Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
Introduced in 1950, the Pontiac Catalina nameplate had long been associated with affordable luxury and solid performance, but by 1980 it was nearing the end of its run. The 1980 Catalina — built on GM’s B-body platform and a member of the model’s fifth and final generation — featured a more squared-off, conservative styling compared to earlier years, reflecting the era’s move toward efficiency and practicality. It was offered in sedan and coupe body styles, with a spacious interior and traditional body-on-frame construction.
Engine options for 1980 included a 3.8-liter V6 and several V8s, and most Catalinas came with a three-speed automatic transmission. Notable features included power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, and Radial-tuned suspension (RTS) for improved ride and handling. Although not a performance car, the Catalina was appreciated for its smooth ride and roomy cabin.
This well-maintained 1980 Pontiac Catalina wears its original black paint and burgundy cloth/vinyl upholstery, along with American Racing wheels and Cooper Cobra tires, and the Catalina is powered by a 4.9-liter V8 engine mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. The odometer shows 62,934 miles, believed to be original.
