Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

In 1979 the brochure boasted, “Jeep wrote the book on 4-wheel drive…When you drive a CJ, the end of the road is just the beginning of the fun!” It had been that way since 1954 when Kaiser introduced the CJ-5, which took its cues from the Korean War M-38A1. The CJ-5 was built strong, but it was softly styled for the consumer market, and its 81-inch wheelbase also helped make it more comfortable.

As the years passed Jeep’s drivetrains were further refined, and in 1979 a standard straight six or an optional V8 was available, along with improved manual transmissions and axles. The capable CJ-5 ended up being the longest-running version of the always-improving Jeep with a 30-year production run and more than 600,000 made. Even better, the CJ-5 has crawled its way into the hearts of enthusiasts, with tons of aftermarket parts available for this rugged 4x4.

This 1979 CJ-5 is a veteran of the road and the trail, and wears aftermarket wheels and locking hubs, Wilwood brakes, and updated seats in anticipation of its next adventure.
