Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Ford Thunderbird made its mark in American motoring history because it helped define the American personal-luxury segment, emphasizing comfort, style, and prestige over outright performance or utilitarian convenience. The redesigned 1977-1979 generation proved that a slightly downsized luxury coupe could still be enormously successful with buyers.
For 1978, Ford introduced the exclusive Diamond Jubilee Edition to commemorate Ford's 75th anniversary. A lavish package that included unique exterior colors, color-keyed trim, special badging, opera windows, hideaway headlights, luxury upholstery, woodgrain interior accents, and nearly every available comfort and convenience option, the Diamond Jubilee Thunderbird was one of the most expensive and well-equipped Thunderbirds ever offered. Despite its personal luxury focus, the 1978 Thunderbird became the best-selling model year in the nameplate’s history with more than 350,000 units produced.
The seller acquired this vehicle in 2016, and in 2025 reports that they repainted the car, performed brake-system repairs, and replaced the head gaskets. In 2026, the seller reports that they replaced the carburetor, fuel pump, fuel filter, and ignition control module.
This 1978 Ford Thunderbird Diamond Jubilee Edition is now offered at no reserve with a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
