Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The Ford Bronco marked Ford's inaugural entrance into the sport utility vehicle market. The Bronco's development was the result of comprehensive surveys conducted among owners of the International Harvester Scout and the Jeep CJ series. These surveys highlighted a consistent theme: commendable off-road prowess marred by poor passenger comfort and a glaring absence of highway passing power. In response to this valuable feedback, Ford boldly entered the arena, unveiling the Bronco in 1965. The Bronco offered three distinct body styles, the open-air Roadster, two-door Sports Utility, and three-door Wagon. Both the Sports Utility and Wagon versions boasted a removable hardtop, allowing for fun in the sun.

In 1977, the curtain closed on the first generation of the Bronco. By then, the Bronco lineup had streamlined to the Wagon body style, with the 302 cu-in V8 engine standing as the sole power plant option after the inline-six engine bowed out due to stringent EPA regulations. Buyers were presented with a choice between the direct-drive three-speed manual transmission or the “C4” three-speed automatic. The following year, in 1978, the Bronco transitioned to a full-size chassis to vie with competitors like the Dodge Ram Charger and GM's K-5 Jimmy and Blazer models.

Today, the first-generation Ford Bronco enjoys a dedicated following, with a vibrant aftermarket community supporting a wide spectrum of Bronco builds, ranging from stock restorations to extravagant restomods.
