Description
The 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible stands as a landmark in automotive history, marking the end of an era as the last American-made convertible of its time. Introduced amid growing safety regulations and changing consumer tastes, Cadillac declared that this model year would be the final chapter for factory-built convertibles – an announcement that ignited a buying frenzy and instantly elevated the car to collector status.
Built on Cadillac’s full-size front-wheel-drive chassis, the Eldorado boasted a commanding 500ci V8 engine, delivering smooth, effortless performance. True to Cadillac’s reputation for luxury, the convertible came fully equipped with power-operated features – steering, brakes, windows, door locks, front bench seat, soft top, and even the antenna.
Its design was bold and unmistakably Cadillac: a sweeping hood, squared-off rear, and signature vertical taillights gave it a stately presence on the road, while passengers were treated to a plush leather interior that defined 1970s opulence. Cadillac reportedly produced 14,000 units of the 1976 Eldorado Convertible, many of which were tucked away by buyers as long-term investments.
This Eldorado Convertible is finished in Firethorn Metallic with color-coordinated leather upholstery and has reportedly been kept stock throughout, aside from a tan convertible top that is believed to be a replacement. It is now offered with a top boot cover, a car cover, and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.
