Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

MG’s Midget line has long been celebrated for delivering classic British roadster charm in a compact, lightweight package. With nimble handling, simple mechanicals, and vast aftermarket support, these cars remain favorites among enthusiasts seeking an engaging analog driving experience. The 1974 model year represents the final iteration before federally mandated rubber bumpers altered the Midget’s appearance, making slim‑bumper cars especially desirable.

This '74 Midget has been with the seller for approximately 15 years, during which time it has had a cosmetic refurbishment and a reported overhaul of its 1,275cc BMC A-series inline-four. A 4-speed manual transmission delivers power to the rear wheels, and the car is equipped with an aftermarket exhaust system. The silver exterior features color-matched bumpers, a black mesh grille, and black trim, as well as gray-finished Minilite-style wheels wearing Michelin tires.

This 1974 MG Midget is now offered with spare wheels, some service documentation, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.

Servicing & Documentation

From the seller: “The powertrain was rebuilt to correct MG Midget 1500 specifications. The car starts easily with no choke required, idles normally, shifts smoothly, and brakes properly. It was inspected and tuned by a marque‑knowledgeable mechanic at Neil’s Restorations in Decatur, Georgia.

I also spoke directly with the previous owner who confirmed that the engine was professionally rebuilt, though receipts are no longer available. According to him, a single invoice totaling approximately $1,200 was paid for the work, which included boring the engine .040 over, installing new sleeves, pistons, and rings.”
