Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The Triumph Stag, introduced in April 1970, was a distinctive 2+2 grand tourer designed by Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti and built by the Triumph Motor Company at Canley, Coventry. Conceived to compete with luxury models like the Mercedes‑Benz SL, it featured a built‑in T‑bar roll hoop meeting U.S. rollover standards, a removable hardtop, and a soft convertible roof. Under the hood lay a newly-developed 2.5L OHC V8 engine, later enlarged to 3.0L (as seen here) with dual Zenith‑Stromberg carburetors to satisfy U.S. emissions laws. Its stylish appearance was complemented by luxury appointments like leather seats, wooden trim, and power steering.
In February 1973, Triumph released the “Mark II” Stag, featuring cosmetic and mechanical updates, and this example is powered by a 3.0L V8 fed by a Holley carburetor and paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Refurbishment work reportedly included overhauling the fuel and braking systems, along with stripping the body to bare metal before being refinished in its current shade of Carmine Red. The interior is upholstered in tan and features a dashboard panel adorned with wood veneer, and tasteful upgrades include a stainless-steel exhaust system, electronic ignition, and an electric fuel pump.
This Stag is now offered at no reserve with some spare parts, two car covers, and a clean Hawaii title in the seller’s name.
