Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
The 1972 DeTomaso Pantera was born from a transatlantic alliance that meshed Italian flair with American muscle. Founded by former Argentinian racer Alejandro de Tomaso, the company partnered with Ford to create a mid‑engine exotic that could be sold through Lincoln‑Mercury dealerships in the U.S.
Styled by Tom Tjaarda at Ghia, the Pantera blended sharp European lines with a mid-mounted 351ci Ford Cleveland V8. Introduced to the U.S. market in 1971, the '72 model refined the formula with minor updates. The Pantera stood apart from its Ferrari and Lamborghini rivals as a blue‑collar supercar — loud, fast, and defiantly unconventional, all while being able to be service by just about any garage in the country.
This ’72 Pantera has been refinished in red paint over black Elk Grain vinyl upholstery. Power from the car's mid-mounted 351 V8 is directed to the rear wheels by a gated five-speed manual transmission. The Italian-bodied sports car also features black Pantera rocker panel decals, 15” magnesium sports wheels, power disc brakes and windows, AM/FM radio, and full instrumentation, with a driver-focused 180‑mph speedometer and an 8,000‑rpm tachometer.
According to the included Deluxe Marti Report, this Pantera was ordered with the GT Option Trim Kit as a Ford Motor Company "pool car" based in the automaker's Southeastern U.S. office.
This 1972 De Tomaso Pantera is now offered by the selling dealer with a Deluxe Marti Report, a window sticker, and a clean Florida title.
