Description
OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE
4-4-2 was well known in the 1960s as the four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and two exhaust pipes found on Oldsmobile’s famous muscle car. This performance package started on midsized, V8-powered 1964 F-85s, continued through 1968’s curvy A-body redesign, and became legendary in 1970 with the 4-4-2’s gigantic 455ci V8.
By 1972, the planned colonnade body style had been delayed. Olds had again made the 4-4-2 an option package, known as W-29, which was available on four Cutlass body styles. And while a 350ci mill was available in 4-4-2s that year, the 455 could also be had in regular and W-30 trims. And so, with its sensuous bodywork intact, enthusiasts bought nearly 10,000 W-29-equipped cars in 1972.
This clean 4-4-2 tribute was born a 350-powered Cutlass Hardtop Coupe, but now packs a ground-pounding, nitrous-huffing 455ci V8. It has reportedly been body-off refreshed, with the sheetmetal now wearing a cold air induction hood and spoiler, four-stage tangerine paint, stripes, and pearl white ghost flames on the hood. The custom interior features tweed and leather, with embroidered bucket seats, a full-length center console, and matching door panels and package shelf. And the suspension has been upgraded to handle this powerful muscle car’s output.
This eye-catching Oldsmobile is now offered at no reserve by the selling dealer with car show sign boards, a book of photos documenting the build, and a clean Florida title.
