Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1972 Jeep CJ‑5 marked a major evolution in the iconic off-road line. Under American Motors Corporation (AMC) ownership, the CJ‑5 received significant updates to accommodate larger engines and improve durability. The wheelbase grew from 81 to 84 inches, and the hood and fenders were lengthened to fit AMC’s powertrain options. Mechanical upgrades featured a Dana 30 front axle, a robust Dana 44 rear axle, and a quieter, stronger Dana 20 transfer case. Safety and comfort improvements included a relocated fuel tank, column-mounted pedals, and optional Saginaw power steering. These changes made the 1972 CJ‑5 more powerful, safer, and better suited for both rugged trails and everyday use, cementing its reputation as a versatile and enduring off-road legend.

Powered by a factory-optional AMC 304ci V8, this CJ-5 is also equipped with a T15 3-speed manual transmission, power steering, and power brakes. It has reportedly undergone a body-off-frame refresh including metal work, Olive Green bed liner paint, and lengthy mechanical servicing—including a rebuilt engine and transfer case, fully serviced brakes, suspension, fuel system, and wiring.

This three-pedal, V8-powered CJ-5 is now offered at no reserve with part receipts for the work performed, some spare parts, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

This 1972 Jeep CJ-5 was acquired by the seller in 2023 from a local private party with the intentions of restoring for a family woods vehicle and weekend getaway rig. During the two-year refurbishment, the property intended for use was sold, and as a result, the Jeep has accumulated roughly 300 miles since completion, according to the seller.

  • Two keys

Additional Information

From the seller, “This is a fun Jeep to climb in and drive. It has plenty of power to take you anywhere in the woods, and it has a real mean growl from the exhaust. It was a fun experience redoing it, and hopefully it will make a great addition to the garage for whoever buys it!"
