Description
Introduced in the early 1960s, Volkswagen’s Type 3 was refined and practical evolution of the Beetle platform, offering improved ride quality, additional cargo space, and a more comfortable interior. By 1971, the Type 3 Fastback—known internally as the “TL” for Touring Limousine—featured updated ventilation, improved interior appointments, and standard front disc brakes.
This 1971 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback is finished in Elm Green over a black basketweave‑pattern vinyl interior with high‑back front bucket seats and rear bench. Power comes from a 1,584cc air‑cooled flat‑four engine equipped with dual carburetors, which delivers power to the rear wheels via a three‑speed ZF automatic transmission. Additional features include front disc brakes, independent suspension with torsion bars, fresh‑air two-speed fan ventilation, front and rear cargo storage, and a reupholstered dashboard.
The car has been owned by the seller for over 15 years, during which time it is said to have had a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment at Beetle Barn in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This restored 1971 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback is now offered with a car cover, a service manual, and a clean Nevada title in the seller’s name.
