Description
“The 1750 Spider Veloce is a car that rewards the skilled driver,” Road & Track wrote in 1969. “It’s not just fast — it’s alive, with a chassis that communicates and an engine that sings.”
Introduced in 1968, the 1750 Spider Veloce (Italian for "Fast Convertible") was a refined evolution of the original Duetto Spider and part of Alfa Romeo’s celebrated 105/115 series. It succeeded the 1600 Spider and was produced until 1971, when it was replaced by the 2000 Spider Veloce.
The 1750 Spider Veloce retained its predecessor’s sleek Pininfarina-designed bodywork while introducing mechanical and performance upgrades that made it more capable and refined. At its heart was a 1779cc DOHC inline-four engine with twin Weber carburetors, producing around 130 horsepower. Paired with a five-speed manual transmission, it offered spirited performance and a top speed near 120 mph. The car also featured four-wheel disc brakes, independent front suspension, and a live rear axle, delivering a balanced and engaging driving experience.
“Alfa Romeo’s 1750 Spider Veloce delivers a rare combination of elegance and edge,” Car and Driver wrote. “It’s a gentleman’s roadster with a racer’s heart.”
This 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce retains most of its originality, including its U.S.-market SPICA fuel injection system, while also receiving a new soft top and new interior (not including seats).

Ownership History
The Connecticut seller of this 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce has owned it since June 1999. He says the car “was not running nor registered when I bought it. It was repaired and then passed all inspections when registered after my purchase. The original color was yellow; the previous owner had the exterior painted green, so I had the engine bay, trunk bay, and dashboard repainted to match. I had hoped to make further improvements over time, but other priorities affected those plans. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to mechanical matters, so while I will be happy to answer any questions (in the comment section), my explanations may not be all that helpful to someone with a lot more knowledge.”
