Description
The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet emerged as one of the most iconic performance cars of the muscle car era. Introduced as part of the refreshed-for-1969 Mustang lineup, the Mach 1 replaced the GT as Ford’s primary performance package. Its most formidable option was the 428 Cobra Jet V8 with Ram Air, a high‑torque big‑block rated at 335 horsepower — an intentional underrating meant to keep insurance costs down. In reality, the engine produced far more power.
The Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet featured competition‑inspired styling, including a matte black-painted shaker hood, chrome trim, and optional handling upgrades. It quickly gained a reputation for straight‑line dominance, with quarter‑mile times that challenged rivals from Chevrolet and Dodge.
This R-Code ’69 Mach 1 is powered by the iconic 428 Cobra Jet Ram Air V8, mated to an optional four-speed, close-ratio manual transmission. The car has been refinished in its factory-correct Wimbledon White paint with red and gold side/rear stripes, blackout hood treatment, five-spoke chrome wheels, Dark Red Clarion knit-vinyl high-back bucket seats, and color-matching carpet and door trim. The car was originally ordered with optional hinged fold-down seats and a trap door into trunk.
Hank’s Garage, a North Salt Lake, Utah, venue filled with classic American muscle cars, blends timeless automotive heritage with modern style to create unforgettable events. This is the first time the owner of Hank’s Garage has offered vehicles to the public.
This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 R-Code 428 Cobra Jet is represented by a Broad Arrow Specialist and is now offered with service receipts, a Deluxe Marti Report, and a clean Utah title in the name of the current owner.
