Description

OFFERED WITHOUT RESERVE

The 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart was a factory-built drag racing monster, created for NHRA Super Stock competition. Dodge shipped lightweight Dart bodies to Hurst Performance, where they were fitted with the legendary 426 HEMI engine, heavy-duty driveline components, and race-ready modifications. These cars lacked creature comforts — no rear seats, radio, or insulation — and featured fiberglass front ends and acid-dipped doors to reduce weight. Only about 80 were built, making them extremely rare. With quarter-mile times in the 10-second range, the Hemi Dart became an icon of Mopar performance and a dominant force on the drag strip.

This 1969 Dodge Dart Custom was created very much in the spirit of these iconic racers. The all-metal Dart body was disassembled, sandblasted, epoxy primed, then sprayed with two-stage Dupont T-5 Copper paint. Under the Six-Pack style fiberglass hood lies a fuel-injected 500ci Mopar V8 built by Automotive Machine of Fraser, Michigan. Power flows through a three-speed Godfather 727 TorqueFlite automatic to an 8-3/4” rearend with a 3.55:1 TruTrac differential. RMS suspension, Viking dual adjustable shocks, rack-and-pinion steering, and Wilwood disc brakes keep the Centerline wheels and Mickey Thompson tires under control. With a matching set of skinny front wheels and tires this 1969 Dart is ready for the strip, but unlike those fabled Hemi Darts, it’s also fully street legal.

This Dart is now offered at no reserve on behalf of the current owner by a Broad Arrow Specialist with a bolt-on 2” receiver for drag-n-drive events.
